Cockatoo Island acquisition complete October 28, 2020 By Chris Pearce Today the receiver and manager of Pluton Resources Limited finalised his sale of the Cockatoo Island Iron Ore Mine to Cockatoo Island Mining Pty Ltd. Blackwall Legal is very proud to have advised receiver Bob Jacobs, the last of 16 insolvency practitioners appointed to this company since 2013. Bob’s 2-year receivership has been a mammoth effort involving incredibly complex issues and several sets of court proceedings.The transaction has resulted in the satisfaction of several million dollars owed to former receivers, payment of several million dollars more in overdue State royalties, and a great future for the island.Blackwall Partner Chris Pearce extended his congratulations to Aaron McDonald, Elizabeth Keen and the Pragma Lawyers team for successfully working with Cockatoo Islands Mining Pty Ltd to acquire the assets, and to the State Solicitors’ Office and representatives of DMIRS for helping to get this transaction over the line.
